Glaisnock Guest House and Shoots and Leaves cafe
A welcoming guest house in the attractive market town of Wigtown, a good base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway, both the forest park and coast and riding alongside a number of lochs. Wigtown is also Scotland's National Book Centre so has a number of bookshops and an annual book festival - perhaps a good combination for a short cycling break but advise early booking.
It's cheap (I paid £34 per night) but nevertheless is en-suite and clean and the breakfast, which has porridge on the menu, is 'cyclist size.' The Shoots and Leaves cafe is part of it, which I used for a light bite lunch after a 44-mile ride and it was a 'big' light bite! I recommend The Craft hotel/pub restaurant for evening meal, although there is on eother place I didn't use
