The Whistlestop Cafe, Cranmore Station, Shepton Mallet. BA4 4QP

On a cycling day out around Shepton Mallet en route to Kilver Court Gardens under the great railway viaduct, we came across this charming station cafe at Cranmore on the East Somerset Heritage Railway, perchance on a 'steam-up' day.  As usual with cyclists, we were up for a full cooked breakfast and werent disappointed  though leave room for the homemade cakes and coffee.  We visited the shop up the steps to the platform and our timing was good as shortly after the cafe was inundated with hundreds arriving by motor vehicle to enjoy the 2.5mile trip on a steam train that day.  As always, the unexpected is twice the delight.
